Well March was well and truly a march forward for Lensation.
There were new networks found, a return to the best business bootcamp, a new venture and it was all finished off with the wonderful FSB Awards in Cardiff!
At the beginning of March, I decided it was time to attend another one of my local networking groups, the Dragon’s Business Network. You may think, the exact same way as I did at first, Dragons? Is this really going to be for me? Do I want to sit in front of Dragons and tell them about my business? Well, to answer all those questions in one go, Yes! The Dragon’s Business Network is one of the friendliest networking groups I have ever walked into. From looking like a rabbit in headlights when I first walked in, to having a laugh with everyone about the alphabet and finishing the morning off with a delicious cooked breakfast. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me on my first day.
March then took me back to a wonderful event; this event was the Big Ideas Wales Business Bootcamp at Glan Llyn in Bala. Last year I attend this event as a boot camper as well as taking some photographs, this year I photographed the whole weekend and saw many young entrepreneurs gain more knowledge and confidence along the way. Big Ideas Wales does a brilliant job of helping those who have a small business idea, or they know they want to be their own boss but aren’t sure what their business will be. By the end of the weekend, all the boot campers walk away with more information on the many different aspects of running their own business. One of the best parts of the weekend is when the Big Ideas Wales Role Models come in for a ‘speed dating’ session, all the boot campers can sit down and ask them questions on a one to one basis. I am already looking forward to next year!
Towards the end of the month I had the privilege of attending the FSB Awards in Cardiff. I was a finalist in the ‘Young Entrepreneur of The Year’ category for the Wales region. The whole day was amazing, from chatting with business friends to making new connections. I didn’t win in my category, but I am immensely proud to be a finalist at such a brilliant awards ceremony. Well done to our wonderful North Wales businesses for bringing home 7 out of the 11 awards on the night.
As Lensation has progressed over the past few years so have the different ventures which have come about. Some haven’t been right, and some have been just perfect. One of the ones which was perfect for me was going back to the place I did my degree and being able to help new upcoming photographers going through their degree now. There may be another new venture on the cards, so watch this space!
